Keen watchers of backyard birds can see the benefit of bird feeders as a fundamental element of the garden scenery..  The drawback of using these kinds of feeders is that they will without any doubt encourage squirrels. When you want success at feeding wild birds, you will need to consider a squirrel proof bird feeder , or two. Prior to going any further, it is well worth reviewing what we know about squirrel habits.

Squirrels are agile, bold and persistent. They are rodents; consequently their teeth never stop growing and adults demand up to a couple of pounds of food per week. They are proficient at scaling a large variety of materials, among them bricks. The trickier the accessibility to food, the more they become ninja squirrels – truly ingenious athletes. They are rarely beaten, although they can certainly be discouraged and distracted.

Look at the best feeder styles and optimal location in your backyard – always considering that squirrels will be able to jump up to 10 feet across a gap, jump as high as five feet from the ground and are capable of dropping 11 feet from a height!

Bird feeders may either be suspended or pole-mounted. You could decide to hang them from an isolated branch of a deciduous tree (less dense leaf-cover than pine) or you can try suspending them from a wire between a couple of trees (however this makes refilling somewhat challenging). Make certain to suspend from a metal chain or wire and hook, or else the squirrels could gnaw through the cord to make the feeder fall down.

A great squirrel guard is a squirrel baffle .  Made from either plastic or metal, it forms an umbrella over the top of both suspended and pole-mounted bird feeders. The squirrels just slide off them. Baffles may also be positioned about four feet above the ground below pole-mounted feeders – lubricating the pole with Vaseline can also be helpful.

Caged bird feeders are a very good choice as they permit small backyard birds access to the food, at the same time as keeping out squirrels and larger birds as well.

You can always go with more advanced squirrel proof bird feeders. They are activated by weight. If a squirrel jumps on one, a spring system causes a metal shield to drop over the feeder or the feeder’s perches give way. Yet another, which is also quite hilarious to see, has a battery-driven motor that spins the squirrel (safely) off it.

Squirrels consume a broad array of foods, but one more approach to fend them off is to give the birds safflower seed, thistle seed (niger), and /or pure suet (without seed), since squirrels are simply not that partial to them.

Needless to say, you can look at this situation from a wholly different perspective and purchase some squirrel feeders – complete with trapeze, tightrope and springboard. You can provide squirrels their favorite foods in return for the squirrels putting on a terrific circus spectacle for you. So when they are distracted, the birds are able to eat too – everyone is a winner.

To be honest, squirrels will certainly always be a component of our backyard gardens, and when combined with proper organizing of bird feeder types, location and bird food types, we can make sure not only that the backyard birds secure their fair share but also that we are entertained by funny squirrel performances.

Garden is an important factor for any property unless it’s a flat. Having a clear beautiful looking garden can increase your property value by 20 to 30%. Many people these days are using different ideas to decorate their garden to increase the price of the property in the market. Most people these days have swimming pools, swings, garden trampolines and other garden accessories which might be in an interest of the buyers.

I believe that this is a great idea and it will work. Another great idea would be to increase the size of your conservatory if you have enough room in your garden, then have an extra room located in it. Recently I had my conservatory rebuilt with one extra room and a toilet. Before it was a 2 bedroom house with one bathroom and one reception but now it is a 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, 1 reception and a living room. Just one simple change which cost £2,500 has increased the value of my property from £120,000 to £160,000 even in this economy.

This is just one example, recently my Uncle built a play ground in his back garden which includes five swings, two 12ft trampolines with safety pads and safety nets, 5 benches and a water fountain. How could he afford it? He has been a Doctor for over 50 years so this wasn’t anything for him. His pension is more than my yearly salary, so just imagine how big his house is. I asked him why he built a playground, he replied: in few years he wants to sell this house and buy a small house for he and his wife but also mentioned if the house doesn’t sell he would like to open the back garden for his neighbourhood kids and also allow a nursery next to his house to use the play ground. What a great idea. He can get his money he spent on it by renting it to a school or a nursery so he won’t really be loosing anything. I am now thinking to add a 10ft trampoline for my garden and make it a playground for my kids.

Trampolines are made of four basic components the tubing, springs, safety pads and jumping mat. Recently safety in mind most trampolines have safety nets built to it.

The tubing – is used to make legs and frames of the trampolines. To make the trampoline legs strong to hold heavy weights, galvanised steel is used. Using these steel also protect the metal from rust and different weather conditions as most trampolines are bought for outdoor use.

The spring helps generate the bounce. Many manufacturers have a specific spring they require for their trampolines and for this they ask a spring specialists to produce the springs for them.

The jumping mats are made of woven fibres. Nowadays you will find trampolines that are made of polyethylene or nylon.

Safety pads go over the springs and frame and are made of foam. Safety pads use pie straps and vinyl covers to connect the pads to the frame. The safety pad foam core is also manufactured by a different company for many trampolines manufacturers. The above process is how manufacturers build the trampolines you use for exercise and fun.

Here is something you might find interesting, one of the trampoline manufacturer has around 80 people working for them 8 hours a day who help build over 500 trampolines. Is it Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly? this quiz is for you.. There are some manufacturers who only build trampolines for athletes and some who produce for everyone from 8ft trampolines to 14ft trampolines for home and outdoor use.

Recently in the news there is a UK based trampoline company designing trampolines without frames. Their logic behind this was to prevent injuries, as most injuries occur when falling into the metal frames.

The new trampolines are thoroughly tested by the manufacturers before it hits the market.
